Have you heard of Lloret de Mar? Neither did I before going there, so let me tell you a little bit about it. It's a town on the Costa Brava in Spain's Catalonia region. It’s known for its Mediterranean beaches but really should be known for its wild night life.
A friend of mine approached me with the idea of taking a vacation to Spain. She found a good package deal for a one-week vacation by bus from Prague to Lloret de Mar. The package included roundtrip transportation by coach, one-week accommodation at a three start hotel, including a meal plan (breakfast & dinner). The offer was too good to pass up and I had never been to that region of Spain, nor heard of it so I said why not. Taking a bus 22 hours with a bunch of senior citizens who reek of BO and smell up the bus with schnitzel (it’s a Czech thing) is not a fun time. Granted we made it to Lloret de Mar in one piece and in the early hours of the morning. We checked our luggage into a holding room at our hotel and headed straight to the beach.
sunrise the day of arrival – so calm and peacful
There we found ourselves in the middle of party central. People were strolling the streets and beach making their way home from the clubs at almost 6:00 am. I could already tell this was going to be a week of “no sleep” and that they did. Our days consisted of waking up, stuffing ourselves at breakfast, smuggling food out of the cafeteria for mid-day beach snacks, laying out, napping, heading back to the hotel from dinner, dressing up, pre-game on our balcony and heading out to the clubs. The slogan “eat, sleep, rave, repeat” was our moto. This was definitely one of those vacations you come back from and need another vacation to recover from.
7:00 am just getting home from the clubs – shout to the girls at breakfast in last nights dress
During this holiday as the Europeans call it, we meet some pretty crazy, funny individuals. I literally felt like I was living in the lyrics of the song “loca people”, la gente está muy loca wtf? No joke as the days went on people got weirder and crazier. There’s no way to describe or put it into words the situations we encountered here, all I can say is go and see for yourself. You’ll be laughing about it until this day.
If you’re looking to experience a fun crazy time and meet tons of people but can’t afford Ibiza go to Lloret de Mar. I can assure you, you’ll come back like Johnny wtf?
Here’s a list of my top 5 bars and route you can follow for your first or every night out. Most of the clubs have cover charges, sometimes even for girls. But fortunately there are lots of promotors called “propaganda” on the streets persuading you to go to their club. These are the guys and girls you want to make friends with. They will either get you in for free or at a reduced rate, sometimes without waiting in line.
- Blue Bar
If you’re looking for a laid back place to enjoy a fancy cocktail this is where you want to be. Come during the day and refresh from the blazing sun while you overlook the Mediterranean Sea or come at night when the bar is all lit up in blue. Great place to start of the night.
Open daily from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm – No cover charge
- St. Trop
St.Trop’ Club is the premier location for the Lloret de Mar nightlife experience since 1962. Three floor venue with a balcony overlooking the main dance floor. Want to escape the craziness on the dance floor, come chill out at the Sky lounge and terrace. Be sure to check the event for the night. You might find yourself at this club with a crowd of 18 year told teen boppers, who just arrived by the buses for their summer holidays and trust me you don’t want that. It was what I like to call a kinder party.
Open daily from 10:30 pm – 5:00 am
- Moef Gaga
The interior of this venue is gorgeous. My favorite club in Llorett de Mar for this reason. Escape to the secret garden for some fresh air. Check with a promotor to see what events they have taking place; neon, foam etc.
Open daily 10:00 pm – 5:30 am
- Disco Tropics
Four rooms of non-stop party. They have different events each night of the week from glow parties to foam parties. Look up their events in advance as they host some of the top DJs like Afrojack, Steve Aoki and much more. Cover charge applies
Open daily from 9:00 pm – 5:00 am
- Texas Bar & Club
Cheap drinks, lots of fun and great place to end the night. Not sure if this place even closes. Play a variety of music from hip-hop, house, Albanian and so much more.
